3 Best Gluten-Free Pastas

gluten-free pastas

Ah, gluten-free pasta. In an ideal world all gluten-free food would taste just as good as the gluten-filled kind, but trust me when I say not all gluten-free pasta is created equal.

Taste and texture definitely very, so it’s important to know which ones are worth spending your money on and eating. I’ve done the legwork on this one, believe me. There are a few options out there that are delicious, though, so don’t give up hope!

Whether you’re gluten-free by necessity or maybe just looking for an alternative to wheat, here are the pasta brands and options I recommend!

Veggie Noodles

Before I dive into flour-based pasta, you could always skip it completely and go with a veggie noodle. I know sometimes we want the “real thing”, but I’ve really learned to love zucchini or butternut squash noodles. You can buy them pre-spiralized or spiralize them yourself at home. Then, you simply heat them in a pan for a few minutes before adding whatever sauce you prefer. Sure there’s a little more crunch than a flour noodle, but it’s a great gluten-free and low card option. Plus, it’s a great way to sneak veggies in for yourself and kids!

Brown Rice

Brown rice pasta is by far my favorite texture when it comes to gluten-free noodles. I’ve tried other varieties like chickpea pasta, which has a good dose of protein and I do like that, but if I’m looking for really good pasta, I’d definitely go with brown rice. Two brands I’d recommend are Jovial and Tinkyada. Give either of them a try and I think you’ll be impressed!

red lentil gluten-free pastas

Red Lentil

Last, but certainly not least, I’d also suggest trying a red lentil pasta if you’re looking for a good gluten-free option. Similar to chickpea pasta, it offers 14 grams of protein per 2 oz serving but has a far better taste and texture compared to chickpea. A brand I tried recently and liked is POW! Pasta by Ancient Harvest. They have both green and red lentil varieties and I thought the taste and texture were spot on.

There’s no doubt finding good gluten-free pastas can be tricky. Hopefully with these options in mind you can find something that doesn’t make you feel like you’re sacrificing a thing!
