I love the idea of a slow morning, enjoying that sunshine pouring in our living room, making my green juice and then enjoying a walk with my dog and kiddo before making our breakfast. It sounds so peaceful, doesn’t it?!
But, if you have kids, a job or simply don’t like getting up in the morning and find yourself rushed, this is probably NOT what your mornings look like.
It’s okay, me neither!
I’m a firm believer in getting a well-balanced breakfast everyday that nourishes my body, gives it what it needs so that I can function at my best.
For me, that means greens, protein, healthy fats and fiber!
Sometimes I don’t have the time to make a full breakfast, so I’ve been opting for a green smoothie, although, I admit that this one isn’t actually that green in color—it still has greens in it though!
If you’re new to green smoothies, this one is a great one to try. Why? Because it tastes like peanut butter, chocolate, banana milkshake—that’s why!
It’s creamy, savory, peanut-y and so delicious! It’s also packed with healthy fats, protein, those greens and plenty of fiber to aid in digestion. Get your blender ready!
Healthy Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie Recipe
makes one smoothie
- 1 banana
- big handful of spinach (feel free to add more too!)
- 2 Tbsp unsweetened peanut butter (look for labels that have peanuts as the only ingredient)
- 1 tsp cacao powder, unsweetened (should have 0g of sugar in it)
- 1-2 Tbsp ground flaxseed
- 1 Tbsp chia seeds
- 1 scoop protein powder of choice, Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides is my favorite
- 1/2-3/4 cup almond milk
Put everything in a high-power blender and blend until smooth. I start with less almond milk and add more as needed.
